Supporting Homeownership in Monroe County, Michigan

Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity of Monroe County brings people together to build homes, communities and hope. Since its founding in 1995, Habitat has built 108 homes, transforming the lives of 277 adults and 272 children in Monroe County. With each home, we continue to make a lasting impact, helping families build stronger futures.

Thanks to donor partners like you, we can sustain our work and meet the growing needs of our community. Affordable homeownership offers life-changing benefits: a safe and stable home provides the foundation for families to thrive. It offers children a secure environment for growth and development while giving parents the stability they need to build self-reliance and confidence. Your contribution is directly helping us create these opportunities for local families, empowering them to overcome adversity and achieve long-term success.

Whether through donations, volunteering on our construction sites, supporting the Habitat ReStore, or exploring the many other ways you can get involved, your support truly makes a difference. No matter how you choose to contribute—whether through your time, resources, or expertise—we invite you to join us in creating lasting, positive change in Monroe County!

Habitat’s homeownership program helped us to get out of the dead-end cycle of renting. With that comes a sense of freedom and pride. I still sit in my living room at times and just reflect on how much I love this home. Going to work is much more fun now knowing I am there to provide this beautiful home for my children. I learned so much about myself; such as how much willpower I had, and how physically strong I actually am. It took me so far out of my comfort zone in an amazing and beautiful way. I will never be able to express my gratitude enough.– Habitat Homeowner, Nickole

“Oh, the sense of freedom I felt when I realized I will finally be able to do the things I love—like going to church, shopping, and returning to work when I’m strong enough. I am so grateful. I’m also thankful for Home Depot and their support. I pray blessings on all of you. God has shown me His love through the actions of Habitat Monroe and Project Serve. I’m looking forward to the future. Veteran Ramp Recipient, Rosalie

The Habitat homeownership program helped my family by not only providing a safe and energy-efficient home but also helping us find a monthly payment that was lower than our monthly rent. So we are able to save money each month. We have formed a stronger and closer family bond. With more space, we can have larger family get-togethers, and enjoy the outdoors in our backyard, and we were even able to add a new member—our puppy, Theo. Habitat has really made one of our dreams come true. Thank you so much Habitat of Monroe!– Habitat Homeowner, Kelsey

Working with Habitat has been so great! I couldn’t imagine doing this without the support I’ve gotten from all of my family, friends, and Habitat themselves! – Habitat Homeowner, Lauren

My friends at Habitat, I wish to express my sincere gratitude for the gift of the handicap ramp built for me this past summer. It has truly made life easier by permitting me easier access to my home. A special thank you to Dave Graves for recognizing my needs and making it possible. To Home Depot, for this generous gift of quality materials, and last but not least, Ken and Jim for their hard work and exceptional skills in the construction of a beautiful and functional ramp Veteran Ramp Recipient, Gregory

I want to say thank you to the many volunteers who helped make this dream a reality and the Habitat employees that I worked with along the way. This opportunity was by no means easy to juggle, but it has been worth it. This program has changed not just my life but has given my daughter something she’s always deserved. Without the Habitat program, this dream would have never come true. I’m absolutely overwhelmed with joy and gratitude. – Habitat Homeowner, Stephanie
