Is there anything better than helping a company who makes such a difference in your community and saving money at the same time? If you’re like me, your mind is constantly going. What can I paint today? What can I redo tomorrow? I think most of us have at least one thing that makes us feel at peace, and for me, it’s decorating and restoring.
When I started to build my house in August of 2017, the stress of trying to get everything accomplished that I wanted to, and on a budget, was setting in. Flooring, counter tops, appliances, doors, and concrete are just a few of the things that are a necessity. But what about the part where you need to fill your house to make it feel like a home? It can be such an exciting time, but so overwhelming. I remember going to Home Goods & TJ Maxx to browse, and in my head knew, that if I wanted a certain look, I couldn’t buy all of my furniture brand new. And this is when, I made my first trip to Habitat Restore Monroe!
If you’ve never been to Habitat Restore, everything that’s available to purchase has been donated. Whether it was from a company, or an individual, you can buy and take it home that day. Their mission statement is “Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities, and hope.” With the money from our purchases, they are able to build and renovate affordable homes, and have sheltered more than 3 million people worldwide.
Below, I have pictured some of the pieces I have redone. Paint and hardware can go a long way, and speaking of hardware… You know how expensive it is. From $4 a knob and up, you can spend a pretty penny just on that. All of my handles and knobs have been purchased on Amazon or Tj Maxx. Most of these will come in packs and its a huge money saver, usually spending under $15 for all!
And I will end this with a favorite Bible verse of mine: In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven; Matthew 5:16. If you’re ever in the mood to try something new, make sure to shop at your local Habitat Restore. Save Money. Make a Difference.
And have fun doing it.
