Manheim's Detroit Auto Auction built on a new house on Woodland Beach with Habitat Monroe on two Saturdays in November. The hardy volunteers stuck it out through bitterly cold temperatures and came back to work in the rain the following week! They worked alongside Habitat staff on siding, installing windows, drywall, and caulking, among other important tasks. 

There are many misconceptions about Habitat for Humanity, including that it’s strictly a low-income program. The reality is that Habitat for Humanity can be for anyone who income qualifies. One of the biggest advantages of the program is its down payment assistance, which doesn’t require potential applicants to have 10 percent of a down payment already saved. 

On November 3, Spartan Steel Coating in Monroe held a Community Involvement Day. They chose Habitat Monroe as one of three project locations. The fourteen volunteers built on a new house on Woodland Beach (Monroe). They worked alongside Habitat staff to insulate and wrap the outside of the house and assisted with sheeting the roof, among other important tasks.
