Volunteering

Are you interested in giving back to others while learning a new skill and meeting new friends all at the same time? Volunteering with Habitat for Humanity offers all of these opportunities and more! Here at Habitat, we don’t believe there is a one-size fits all approach to volunteering; therefore, we offer a variety of ways for you to support Habitat and our family partners.

Construction Volunteering:

Whether you show up as a party of one or with a group of your family, friends, or colleagues, you can roll up your sleeves and start building.  No experience is necessary.  Our sites are supervised, and we start the day with a brief morning orientation about tasks and safety prior to getting to work on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. No experience, tools, or materials are necessary – we provide all of that for you.

Tasks range from prepping foundations to completing the finishing touches (and everything between).  If you want to help, but have a physical limitation, don’t let that stop you; make the construction staff aware upon arrival, and they will find a safe job for you.  All construction volunteers must be at least 16 years of age (parents must sign a special waiver for anyone under 18).

Volunteering at the Restore:

The Habitat ReStore relies heavily on volunteers and is one of Habitat for Humanity of Monroe’s biggest financial supporters. This is our discount retail outlet, where tasks range from loading/unloading donations, store cleaning/organizing, and assisting customers, to name a few.  No experience is necessary and all ReStore volunteers must be at least 16 years of age (parents must sign a special waiver for anyone under 18).

In addition to the above, we need volunteers to:

  • Provide meals for those who are volunteering on the construction site
  • Spread the word about the ReStore and Habitat’s Homeownership Program by placing door hangers on neighborhood doors
  • Assist with special events throughout the year, such as our ParTee On Golf Outing, where you can have a chance to win an adventure package from Let’s Roam and Adventures from Scratch!

106 homes built together

1420 volunteers working together every year

156 adults & 241 children living in safe, stable, and healthy homes

Volunteers are the heartbeat of our mission here at Habitat. There is no way we can provide safe and stable homes to our family partners without your help. We know it can be overwhelming to see all of the hard things happening in the world. However, by choosing to volunteer with Habitat, you have the opportunity to help provide shelter to a family, one of the most basic needs for everyone in our society. There is no task too small: you can make a difference!
