Habitat Monroe Receives $1,250 Donation Through

Michigan Gas Utilities’ Safety Charity Challenge

[Monroe, MI — May 8, 2025] Habitat for Humanity of Monroe County is proud to be selected as one of two recipients of a $2,500 charitable donation from Michigan Gas Utilities (MGU), in partnership with Wisconsin Public Service Foundations, through their 2024 Fourth Quarter and Year-End Safety Charity Challenge.

This challenge rewards exceptional employee safety performance by allowing MGU employees to vote on nonprofit organizations to receive funding when safety goals are met. This initiative has supported numerous local organizations across Michigan, and Habitat Monroe is honored to receive $1,250 in recognition of this commitment.

The donation was personally delivered by Corey Parker, Senior Account Manager at MGU’s Coldwater office. He was welcomed by Dave Graves, CEO/President of Habitat Monroe, and Kelly Pierce, Fund Development Director, for a photo to commemorate the occasion.

“We are grateful to Corey Parker and the team at Michigan Gas Utilities for selecting Habitat Monroe,” said Kelly Pierce, Fund Development Director. “This $1,250 donation will be directed toward our upcoming Project Double Impact, which is partly funded through a matching grant. Thanks to this match, the total contribution will be $2,500, allowing us to significantly expand our efforts to provide affordable housing for families in need in Monroe County.”

Adriana Laura, Community Outreach & Communications Administrator, added, “We’re thrilled by the positive momentum behind this new project and feel blessed to have the support of our community partners. We look forward to sharing more as we continue to make a lasting impact together.”
