A New Playhouse for The L.S. Navarre Library

Habitat Monroe presents playhouse to

The L.S. Navarre Branch Library!

[Monroe, MI – February 1, 2024] What happens when a child is given a space to create and explore? Pure Magic! On February 1st, 2024, Habitat for Humanity of Monroe County’s Community Outreach & Communications Administrator, Adriana Laura, presented a café inspired playhouse to the L.S. Navarre Branch Library. Habitat’s construction team built the playhouse in the nonprofit’s workshop, delivered and assembled the structure in the library, where Adriana worked to bring the café theme to life.

When Adriana learned about this special library playhouse, she instantly volunteered to be the designated artist. She states, “I was ecstatic for the opportunity to utilize my talents and support my local library. Both children and adults alike watched the creative progress and cheered me on throughout the project. I send many thanks to Habitat’s construction team, Ken Christunas and Jim Worful; Librarian Clerk, Angela Bird-Meyer; Community Librarian, Amber Reed; and my mother and younger sister for giving their time to put this remarkable playhouse together.”

Community Librarian, Amber Reed, believes this playhouse will be a wonderful asset to the library. She states, “We are so grateful to Habitat for Humanity for building, donating, and designing this playhouse. It will be well-loved and used by kids every day. We serve an at-risk population, mostly children. We offer after-school programs Monday through Thursday all year long and provide snacks and dinner through a partnership with Sodexo every day as well. Our kids can’t wait to use the playhouse, I know their imaginations will run wild. We are so grateful for this generous gift.”

Library Clerk, Angela Bird-Meyer, who applied for the playhouse states, “I’m just really excited to have gotten to work with Habitat for Humanity to build this playhouse so that the kids at the library can have another way to express their creativity and imagination through play.”

Habitat Monroe’s President/CEO, M. David Graves, believes this playhouse project is a great way to support the local community. He states, “We are happy to participate in this project and share the importance of giving back. Not only is it rewarding to see children enjoying this playhouse, but it is also a positive way to expose children to the mission of Habitat.”

The smiles on these children’s faces say enough!
