For Immediate Release:

Habitat for Humanity of Monroe’s Virtual Fundraiser Starts with a Bang

Monroe, MI – January 24, 2022 – Habitat for Humanity’s online survey fundraiser, the Square Foot Challenge, has raised over $19,000 in just two weeks.

Habitat Monroe’s Square Foot Challenge is a virtual fundraiser which began on January 10th and runs through February 8th. The Challenge is 100% online and gives everyone the opportunity to raise $150 for Habitat for Humanity, without opening your wallet or leaving the comfort of your own home!

Participants simply sign up with their cell phone or computer, then complete short, 45-second surveys. For each completed survey, $2 is donated to Habitat Monroe. Through this program last year, Habitat Monroe was able to generate over $36,000 because of support from local businesses, as well the Monroe community.

The price of lumber and other building supplies has increased dramatically since Covid began. Overall, there has been an 18% increase in residential construction supply prices. This translates to a cost increase of $29,500 on the average Habitat Home. The virtual fundraiser will be of great help, offsetting the increased cost of building.
