Meet Americorp Ethan

We made it to August which means it’s time for a new Americorps term! Meet Ethan – he is our new Volunteer Services Americorps member and has committed to a year of service with Habitat Monroe! Ethan is a recent graduate of Bowling Green State University and is currently pursuing his Master’s in business marketing. Ethan has already been out to volunteer on our build site to get a taste of what he will be doing during his term. He was a natural with the hammer!

Meet Americorp Ethan

As an Americorps representative, Ethan will be coordinating all things volunteer services! You will see him in the mornings on the build sites, passing out waivers, making sure the crew has everything that they need for a successful build day. If you’re out on the job site, feel free to discuss all things Habitat & Americorps with him! Americorps is a national organization that is similar to the Peace Corps on a domestic level. Ethan will complete one year of service with Habitat Monroe. This means doing hands-on service in our community, as in helping with the volunteers, going into the community to advocate for Habitat Monroe & Americorps. Anything that encapsulates the Americorps motto to ‘Be the Greater Good.’

Part of Ethan’s membership includes a living stipend, student loan forbearance, and an education award upon completion of his term that can be used towards school tuition or student loans. An Americorps membership is also a great way to gain professional experience in a field that you’re interested in. Ethan will be helping Habitat Monroe on several marketing projects during his term, giving him hands-on experience with what he’s pursuing his degree in.

A few of Habitat Monroe’s current staff members started out as Americorps representatives, serving at the affiliate. As Habitat Monroe is a grassroots organization, it’s a natural fit that we would work with Americorps members who can mobilize and be the hands and feet of Habitat Monroe, wherever they go. Look for Ethan out on the build sites and at community events, spreading the good word of Habitat & Americorps!
