Mary is a long-time resident of Bedford Township. She owned and paid off her home of over 30 years but when some unfortunate circumstances came her way, she ended up losing her home. Forced to find a place to live, the only thing she could do was rent a two-bedroom mobile home. This provided many challenges as Mary is the foster parent to her three grandsons (ages 8-12) and as they grew, they quickly outgrew the space. In fact, DHS informed her that she could no longer have them all in the same room.
Devastated by this set-back and feeling that homeownership was out of reach, she reached out to Habitat. Mary's application met all the criteria. She worked hard to improve her credit; she has a long standing job at a local company and paid all her bills on time. All she needed was a hand up to homeownership and that is exactly what she got! After putting in 200 volunteer hours, she is now ready to be homeowner yet again - providing space for her grandsons to learn, grow and thrive!
This event is free, open to the public, and lasts about 30 minutes. Light refreshments will be served.
