Who is ready for Women’s Build Week? The Women in Nuclear Fermi Chapter are ready!
Like many years before, Fermi WIN will be bringing out two groups of volunteers to build this week. They have also previously volunteered at the ReStore and helped with fundraising events. This year, they will help to build on Habitat’s 100th home in Monroe County.
U.S Women in Nuclear is a nationwide group of men and women who work in nuclear energy and technology fields around the United States, with the goal of preparing the U.S. for the future of nuclear energy and technology through the advancement of women.
DTE Fermi continues to be one of Habitat Monroe’s biggest supporters throughout the years. They consistently donate funds and provide volunteers like WIN, with the intent of positively impacting the community.
Diona Russell, the president of Fermi WIN, looks forward to volunteering with Habitat each year. “Fermi WIN has chosen to work with Habitat Monroe for many years,” she said, “we love being able to get out into the community to support DTE’s impact within our service communities.”
Volunteer work doesn’t only help the people of the community, but the volunteers themselves as well. “We choose to complete Habitat Builds because it gives us a chance to learn and grow with new skills as a team,” she said.
This week will serve as a celebration of the many women that have helped Habitat Monroe get to where they are today, whether by getting their hands dirty on build sites or by donating resources.
Be sure to join in on the fun by watching out for our Women’s Build Week posts on social media, which will include interviews with the Fermi WIN members and highlight some of our favorite Habi-women!
Habitat Monroe would like to thank DTE for its constant support and Fermi WIN for dedicating their time to us this week. We couldn’t do what we do without your hard work and generosity.
Let’s get building, ladies!
