Habitat Monroe is thrilled to welcome back former construction assistant Emily Gacioch.
Emily first started volunteering with Habitat Monroe when she was just 16 years old. Eventually she worked her way up to the construction assistant position and still loves it just as much now, at age 21.
“I was hooked from the first time I came out,” she said. “I worked with Jim (Habitat’s construction supervisor) and he’s just very patient with every volunteer and is willing to teach you.”
Emily has now become a teacher on the build site herself, working alongside volunteers every day. Getting to work with many different groups of people is one of the biggest benefits to her of working at Habitat.
“I love to be outside, the good attitudes of volunteers, and the staff is great,” she said. “I can pursue my passion of building and working with great people.”
Having worked on a total of 12 houses over her years spent with Habitat, Emily has worked alongside many homeowners as well.
“I love working with the homeowners, they always have such a great attitude and are just very grateful,” she said.
When Emily is not on the build site, she is also a student at Eastern Michigan University.
Habitat Monroe is happy to be working with Emily again and to have such a strong asset on our team.
