VITA tax prep is now available for those who qualify

Monroe County Community college has partnered with the IRS to provide a Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) site for taxpayers who earn $54,000 or less, persons with disabilities, and limited English speaking taxpayers. The site is located at the Career Technology Center at 1555 S. Raisinville Road.

MCCC is also offering free federal and state Self Assisted Tax Preparation (taxpayer prepares own return with some assistance if needed) on a first come, first served basis. If you have basic computer skills you can prepare and e-file your own taxes. You must sign up on site no later than 2:30 pm during VITA site hours.

Free financial capability workshops will be offered during VITA operating hours. The workshops will focus on goal setting, budgeting, savings, and utilizing your tax refund to acheive financial goals.

VITA services are available by appointment only. Hours of operation are 10:00 am - 3:00 pm Fridays from February 10th through April 7th. Closed March 3rd. Contact Jeanette for an appointment and more information. 734-243-2048 x111 or jmcdonald@habitatmonroemi.org
