Homebuyer Education Classes Offered

Habitat HOPE will be offering a two-part educational program on homeownership. This series will prepare participants with valuable information about the home buying process that will help them navigate the technicalities of purchasing a home and avoid costly mistakes. Participants will also receive information on state and federal programs available to assist in purchasing a home.


The classes will be held on Wednesday, October 18 and Wednesday, October 25 from 5:30-8:30PM at the Habitat for Humanity office, 14930 LaPlaisance Road, Suite 111, Monroe, MI 48161


Topics to be covered include:

  • Steps in the home-buying process
  • Working with real estate agent, home inspections
  • Cost of homeownership
  • Importance of good credit
  • How to determine how much house you can afford
  • Mortgage loan basics
  • How to maintain your investment
  • Current programs available to assist in purchasing a home


Habitat for Humanity of Monroe County is a MSHDA approved housing agency. Participants that complete this six hour course will receive a certificate of completion that fulfills the requirement for some of the state and federal programs available. There is a $25 fee per person that is due in full at the October 18 class, payable by check or money order.
